Engineer | Systems & Cultural Intelligence

Hi, I'm Andrés

My calling is to build at the intersection of community, data, and technology - applying engineering depth and cross-cultural fluency to problems where the human and technical complexity are equally demanding. I'm an engineer, analyst, and community organizer with 5+ years of full-stack development, community building, and data analysis experience.

Built Different

Engineering with community at the center

I developed my first app when I was 13 years old, graduated high school at 16, and started my first impact organization my sophomore year of university. Since then, I've cultivated a skill set for building human-centered systems - with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Purdue University, consulting across industries from defense to the arts, and leading communities of like-minded innovators. I'm a lifelong learner who believes that technology that ignores human complexity fails the people it claims to serve. That's why every system I've built has had a community at its center.

According to a 2021 Pew Research study, Hispanics only make up 8% of STEM workers, despite making up 18% of the US population. In 2023, I established Hispanic Hackers as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and community of over 2,700 members with the goal of making the tech industry more accessible for Latino and Hispanic people. Serving as the organization's president, I lead teams of volunteers to develop internal tools, organize events, and mentor entry-level developers in my community. Our mission is to increase the number of Latino and Hispanic people represented in the tech industry by providing opportunities for learning, networking, and career growth.

Aligned for Global Impact

The Intersection of Mission and Passion

My passion extends beyond my own community - it reaches every culture, language, and human system I've had the privilege of encountering. I've lived and worked across four continents, learning to adapt and translate for different contexts. I bring the same orientation to my work: designing clear process documentation and adaptable prototypes as a baseline for every problem I approach.

Started in Austin, Texas

I got my start in Austin, Texas, one of the most active startup hubs in the United States. I love Austin for its mix of culture, technology, and outdoor activities. Although many of my experiences started in Austin, my life doesn't revolve around one place. I currently operate within several networks around the globe.

Globally Connected

I have had the privilege of walking the streets, trails, and beaches of 25 countries across 6 continents and living in Japan, Vietnam, Colombia, and the United States. I speak English and Spanish fluently, with a foundational understanding of Romance languages, Japanese, and Russian. I am open to international work and am actively working to build networks in LatAm, Europe, and Asia.

Let's Change the World Together

I'm continuously building toward what's next. I value opportunities to work with organizations that share my passion for impact-driven technology. I am open to relocation, remote work, and starting the conversation. Let's make a true lasting impact - together.
